Oahu is home, but I’m well aware it’s also a destination. Visitors are always asking for the scoop because whenever we visit, we want to feel like we belong! I used to be way uptight about this and would only reveal my “secret” spots to my dear loved ones. Ha! Aren’t you glad you met me now that I’m willing to spill…
Breakfast: Boulangerie Bakery. Oh so yum. I worked at this weird harem type place right by this bakery and would often escape to lose myself in a custard bun.
Lunch: Cafe Sistina. Italian fare. Good stuff, awesome menu. This is the kind of place to bring a multi-generational family or friends who can’t make up their collective mind (the best kind of friends).
Dinner: Willow Tree. After you visit the beaches of Kailua, stop into Aikahi Shopping Center for some bomb Korean food.
Dessert: Waiola Shave Ice. We used to run here in high school with $3 in our pockets. I’m lying, I never ran here, others did. I always drove, but there was usually $3 in my pocket. Please google it because they don’t have a page and I don’t want to link to something silly. They now have a location off of Kapahulu that serves the same deliciousness which I far prefer over their original location because of the parking/seating situation. I think the people are nicer there, too.
